  As early as the 16th century, hides were treated with perfumed ointments of jasmine, rose and tuberose to scent gloves worn by ladies and gentlemen at court. Peau d’Espagne, or Spanish Leather, takes this practice as its compositional reference. The Officina formulation opens with Calabrian bergamot, jasmine and carnation flowers, develops through cedarwood, neroli and violet leaf, and closes on civet and birchwood.
